Feeling Appreciative? Put Some Cash In Alan's TIP JAR!

    Background:

Nebraska Ave. was Horvath's address in Nashville from 1987 until 1993, before he returned to his roots in New Jersey and started performing full-time once again.   It was a place where he healed from the deep wounds of a divorce ... a place where he watched the Decade of Disco pass by while he regrouped and redefined his artistry ... and a place where he co-wrote songs with talents like Matraca Berg, Fred Koller, Deana Carter, and other Nashville notables.

"These songs represent a period where I was finding my focus again.   I was still very secretive about writing songs or about my artistry - even when I opened for Deana Carter, I didn't tell anyone I was doing it.   Consequently a lot of friends heard about it after-the-fact and I had some answering to do.   But I had been through an indescribable transition in my life ... my artistry had become as confused as I and I wasn't very sure about myself.   After finally beginning to feel like a true artist again, I was in the mood one night and this is what went down."
    ~Alan

This is a remastered digital copy ... of an old cassette tape copy ... of a reel-to-reel DAT recording -- LoFi ... for real.   The cover photo was taken by Alan in 1971 (it's the fretboard of his Hummingbird, taken with a Pentax SLR camera utilizing a macro lens).   The CD's back-cover photo was also taken by Alan - it's just down the street from where he lived ... a railroad overpass on Nebraska Avenue - Nashville, Tennessee.

Recorded live in Horvath's livingroom -- the windows were open ... you can hear Autumn crickets in the background ... a very personal and passionate set.   These songs represent Alan's rediscovery of himself as an acoustic artist, in the 90s ... his resurgence as a performing artist ... and the work that brought him back to the stage again after an absence of 8 years, via his opening show for Deana Carter at Nashville's 12th & Porter in January of 1993 (still performing under the stagename of Alan Post).

"Vigorous guitar playing and muscular singing ..."
    JOHN J. BLAIR - Sun-Gazette Correspondent
